Manchester United target told to ‘find a new club’ this summer as three Premier League clubs circle

One of Manchester United’s reported transfer targets has been informed that he is free to find a new club this summer, as Rúben Amorim seeks reinforcements.

Manchester United are now targeting a third addition to their squad after securing deals for Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

Cunha, 26, has arrived from Wolves in a £62.5 million transfer, while 18-year-old Leon joins from Cerro Porteño for an initial £3 million, potentially rising to £7 million with bonuses.

The club remain in negotiations with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo, having seen two offers — £55 million and £62.5 million — turned down.

Rúben Amorim is also looking to bring in a striker and a midfielder, aiming to finalise the bulk of United’s transfer business before the team departs for their pre-season tour later this month.

Luiz informed he can find a new club

One player United have been linked with in the last fortnight is Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, as the Serie A club are keen to see him involved in a swap deal that would incur exiled winger Jadon Sancho heading the other way.

Juventus appear ready to part ways with Luiz just one season after finalising his move from Aston Villa, with the Brazilian midfielder no longer in the club’s plans for the future.

According to the Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto, the Bianconeri have informed Luiz that he is free to find a new club, effectively putting him on the market.

Three Premier League sides have already made enquiries for the 27-year-old. Everton and Fulham are said to have shown the most concrete interest, having contacted both Juventus and the player’s representatives to understand the terms of a potential deal.

United, who had explored a move for Luiz earlier this year, have also reignited their interest, making initial contact once again.

While the situation is still developing and no formal offers have been submitted, a return to the Premier League is a real possibility for Douglas Luiz.

Amorim has a major transfer decision to make

Amid reports that United are interested in Luiz, there have also been other claims from Italy that the Brazilian midfielder is part of one of two offers United have agreed on for Sancho.

With United wanting to offload the 25-year-old winger as soon as possible, they have reportedly informed Juventus that they would be willing to accept either a bid of £21.5 million plus add-ons for Sancho or a straight swap for Luiz.

If Sancho and Juventus can agree on personal terms, Amorim would then need to decide whether he would rather collect the £21 million fee for Sancho’s move or secure Luiz as his third signing of the summer.

The head coach is keen to add players with Premier League experience to his squad this summer, as evidenced by the additions of Cunha and a clear preference for Mbeumo. Luiz has 175 appearances in the competition to his name across five years at Aston Villa, so he could fit the bill for Amorim.
