Manchester United target cannot believe “special” transfer interest, he would replace injured star
Manchester United are already looking ahead to the summer transfer window to help strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Ruben Amorim was only given one major January signing at Manchester United as Patrick Dorgu signed for around £25 million from Lecce.
The Portuguese boss has been struggling since taking over at Old Trafford and it is clear that the squad needs additions when the summer comes around.
There are several key positions which need strengthening, while players who are likely to depart will also been replacing.
One area which seems extremely likely to be needing at least one signing is the goalkeeper department, with the futures of Altay Bayındır and Tom Heaton in the air.
Bayındır has been more involved under Amorim but reports suggest that he could return to Turkey in the summer. He is currently injured after his heroics against Arsenal in the FA Cup last month.
Third-choice keeper Heaton is also currently unavailable with an injury and it is entirely possible that he decides to retire at the end of the season.
André Onana has recently been supported by youth goalkeeper Elyh Harrison and Hubert Graczyk on the bench but it seems likely that United sign a backup goalkeeper in the summer.
Lammens cannot believe special United interest
Several promising players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, including Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
The 22-year-old has been excelling in the Belgian Pro League and his performances have earned him links to a potential United move, which has flattered the player.
Lammens has admitted his shock when he first heard the rumours and claimed that he has done some research on Amorim’s team.
“The first time I heard it, I thought: wow, Immediately a world team that follows you. That is special. Of course I was also asked about it a lot and when I made a save in training,” he told Gazet van Antwerpen.
“Those top clubs have so many scouts and follow so many players. So it doesn’t have to mean anything yet. It will only become clear in the summer whether anything will come of it. But of course, it is only positive.
“Especially because it is about the best competition in the world and my profile – my stature and way of playing – is suitable for English football. You have to physically hold your own there and that suits me.
“I do follow the teams that follow you a bit. But it’s not like I’m watching full matches. Summaries are enough.”
Lammens addresses potential United summer move
Lammens has started every single league fixture for Royal Antwerp and is a similar position to what Bayındır was in before his Old Trafford move.
Joining the club would almost certainly mean accepting a backup role, which is difficult to do when you’re used to playing every week.
However, the lure of a Premier League move – and to United – is attractive and something that Lammens will think about.

For now, he is focused on doing his best for the Belgian outfit and improving his game this season after only recently breaking into the professional game.
Further asked about a potential summer move to United, the shot-stopper added: “Wow, hard to say. Then I’ve only played one full season at Antwerp.
“If something comes along that I can hardly say ‘no’ to and that will benefit the club, I’ll have to think about it seriously. But if I’m the first keeper here for another year, that’s no problem.
“On the contrary: I’m in a luxurious position. Let me be clear, don’t make me crazy either. I’m an Antwerp player and as long as that’s the case, I’ll focus fully on my work here.”
