Manchester United have provided a surprising transfer hint after reports of a new role for one player next season.

The Reds are looking to be active in the transfer market after confirmation that Erik ten Hag will stay at the club following INEOS‘ end-of-season review.

Several positions, including centre-back and striker, have been identified as key to strengthening this summer, although additional signings will depend on how well the club sells players in the coming months.

Regular reports have stated that United are looking to strengthen their right-wing, with Michael Olise being the primary target.

However, Chelsea are pushing forward with that signing and new information suggests that United have a plan for the long-term future in that position.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the club now regard Amad Diallo as one of their more integral squad members for the future.

It was explained that United now bracket the Ivorian winger with Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund as youngsters to spearhead their next side.

Amad’s future appeared uncertain despite his impressive end to last season. He has just one year remaining on his current contract and only broke into the team during the final weeks of the campaign.

However, his talent level is undeniable and it seems that United are hoping that he can be the man to control that position for the long-term future.

This suggests that signing Olise, or another right-sided winger, might not be on the agenda this summer unless there are some surprise sales.
