One Manchester United star has sent a strong message to Ruben Amorim following a brilliant display for the club’s Under-21s side this weekend.
Manchester United are back in action on Tuesday after a two-week break for international fixtures, with Ruben Amorim’s side set to face Nottingham Forest.
The club’s Under-21s side also returned to the field for the first time since the 14 March on Friday afternoon as they faced Leeds United in the PL2.
After dominating proceedings from the start of the game, United somehow saw themselves two goals behind after Leeds scored twice in quick succession midway through the first-half.
Travis Binnion’s side continued working hard and managed to score twice in the second half to level the scoring. Sekou Kone netted the first and then won a penalty for Sam Mather to convert.
Despite controlling the game until the final whistle, United were unable to find an opening to score a winning goal and had to settle for a draw on the afternoon.
Moorhouse sends strong message to Amorim with U21s display
Jack Moorhouse was one of the standout performers for the young Reds in this game, causing all sorts of problems for Leeds’ midfield and defence.
The teenager has been spending time in Amorim’s first-team squad recently and it seems quite clear that he is ready for the next step in his development, whether that be first-team football at Old Trafford or elsewhere on loan.
So many times Moorhouse ran through the heart of Leeds’ team with the ball at his feet. His ball-carrying ability is up there with the best talents at the club.
It was recently reported that United scouts were “buzzing” when assessing the dribbling abilities of transfer target Tyler Dibling. Moorhouse looks to be able to offer than same trait.
Sometimes it would be good to see him pull the trigger at a better moment but that is something that will come with time and work behind-the-scenes.
Moorhouse won’t be playing youth football for much longer
Moorhouse has been on the bench for the first-team twice this season and he will certainly stay in the mind of Amorim if he keeps producing performances like his latest one.
Several young players could get a chance on the pitch for United’s senior side before the end of the season, and then there is pre-season for further opportunities.
Among others, such as Jack Fletcher, Moorhouse is making sure that he will be – and stay – in those conversations.
After difficulties with his fitness levels in previous campaigns, the midfielder is showing what he is capable of this term and it doesn’t seem like he will be playing youth football for much longer.
