Manchester United starlet reacts to Bryan Mbeumo transfer, 17yo will learn from him next season

One Manchester United starlet has reacted to the news that the club have reached an agreement to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer.

After swiftly wrapping up the signing of Matheus Cunha early in the transfer window, Manchester United quickly turned their attention to Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

The Cameroon international is coming off a sensational Premier League season, having scored 20 goals. Once United made their interest known, Mbeumo made it clear that his preference was a move to Old Trafford over rival suitors Newcastle and Tottenham.

United had two initial bids, £55 million and then £62.5 million, rejected by Brentford, leading to a drawn-out negotiation process. However, according to David Ornstein, the saga has now reached its conclusion: United’s latest offer of £65 million plus a further £6 million in add-ons has been accepted.

The deal is now fully agreed, with Mbeumo set to link up with Ruben Amorim’s squad in time for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States next week.

United starlet reacts to Mbeumo agreement

Mbeumo is a proven Premier League player and that has been something the Reds have been desperate for in recent years for multiple reasons.

Those kind of players do not only guarantee a certain level of performance on the pitch, but can also help in the development of younger talent at the club.

Bendito Mantato is one of the players who could benefit from Mbeumo’s arrival. As a left-footed attacking winger himself, the 17-year-old will be able to take a lot of advice from the Cameroon international.

It looks like Mantato is excited to start working with the 25-year-old, with the Academy graduate reacting to the news of an agreement on social media.

He liked Fabrizio Romano’s ‘Here We Go’ post on Instagram, which also explained that Mbeumo only ever wanted the move to United this summer.

Mantato can learn from Mbeumo next season

Mbeumo is set to play as one of the no.10s in Amorim’s system, and while Mantato is more likely to develop into a wingback at Old Trafford, there is still a lot he can learn from him.

After a positive campaign last term, with appearances on the bench for the first-team, it has been reported that Mantato is set to stay at the club next season rather than heading out on loan.

He will likely get more game-time with the Under-21s while also training with the first-team squad and learning from players like Mbeumo.

While there aren’t expected to be many youth prospects on tour in the United States, Mantato will certainly be in contention for a spot and will be hoping to be involved.
