Manchester United starlet names Cristiano Ronaldo as one of three favourite players in training
Manchester United U-21 striker Mateo Mejía has revealed his free favourite senior players during his time at the club so far… no surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of them.
Mateo Mejía joined his first pre-season tour in the summer of 2023 and played against Wrexham in a 3-1 loss, with this being the first time that many United fans saw the young Spaniard in action.
Mejía has been an ever presence this season for United’s U-21 side in the Premier League 2, scoring three times and assisting five in nine appearances so far but is yet to make the big step into Erik ten Hag’s first team.

“I haven’t made my debut with the first team officially yet, but I have played at Old Trafford,” he recalled to Revolo about a match with the reserve team last season.
Further asked about who his favourite players from the United first team when he joined training, he said: “When Cristiano Ronaldo was there, I trained several times with them and… what a beast. He was always at 100%, always being an example, always being the best.
“I also really like Bruno (Fernandes), I loved Mata… For Cristiano, people call him a pimp or an arrogant. Then, we agreed to a recovery in the sauna, and he is a normal guy: he talks to you, and you have a normal and ordinary conversation.”
Bruno Fernandes may, unfortunately, stay as just an occasional training partner rather than a teammate on the pitch, as it is being reported that United are willing to let the 20-year-old leave with the likes of Sevilla interested, but any transfer will only happen if the Red Devils get a percentage of any future transfers involving him.
With it being widely reported that United are after a striker to bolster their attack, it seems a bit strange that they are happy for him to go considering his 6’2″ frame, with height being a known characteristic that Ten Hag likes in his forwards.
