Manchester United starlet finally ends ‘frustrating’ 724 day record, Harry Maguire has been ‘taken aback’ in training

One Manchester United starlet has finally ended a ‘frustrating’ record which almost last two years and is now looking ahead to breaking into the first-team.

While Manchester United’s senior team has struggled in the Premier League this season, the club’s youth squads have been in impressive form.

The Under-18s have secured victories in five of their six league matches, while the Under-21s boast a perfect record with five wins from five in Premier League 2.

Travis Binnion’s Under-21s side did fall to defeat earlier this week, however, losing 3-0 to League One side Lincoln City in the EFL Trophy.

The result was not what the Reds wanted but the overall performance was promising against a senior side and there was an important milestone for one young star.

United starlet finally ends ‘frustrating’ 724 day record

Shea Lacey started the clash against Lincoln, making his fourth appearance of the season. The 18-year-old was a constant threat on the right side but failed to

More importantly, Lacey managed to complete the entire 90 minutes rather than being substituted. It was his first full game for United since October 2023.

There were 724 days in between those two 90-minute matches for Lacey. He is a player who the club have taken caution with due to injuries, he is often coming off the bench or being replaced midway through the game.

While he was not at his very best in the game this week, Lacey was pleased to finally complete an entire game for the Reds once again.

“Not the result we wanted last night. good to get my first 90 minutes back in the legs after a frustrating past 2 years,” the youngster wrote on X.

United stars taken aback by Lacey in training

Lacey’s talents are unquestionable and the only doubt is over his fitness. If he can keep playing consistently, a first-team debut later this season would not be surprising.

The winger has been regularly training with Ruben Amorim’s side and recent reports from MailSport stated that Harry Maguire and others in the first team have been taken aback by his level.

While there are not many players who seem to fit perfectly into Amorim’s system, Lacey does fit the left-sided no.10 role very well.

He is clearly impressing people behind-the-scenes, and it would be great to see a youth player break into the first-team picture this season.
