Manchester United star told he ‘looks like an academy player’ as brutal criticism delivered

One Manchester United star has received some brutal criticism from a Premier League legend which some fans may feel is undeserved.

Manchester United spent over £200 million on four new arrivals this summer. Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Šeško, and Senne Lammens were brought in to bolster the squad.

Although Lammens has quickly won over supporters and Šeško has shown some encouraging signs, Cunha and Mbeumo have been the standout performers so far.

Mbeumo currently tops the club’s scoring charts with six goals, including five in the Premier League, while Cunha has been instrumental in notable wins against teams such as Liverpool and Brighton.

United have lost only once in their last seven league games and will be looking to build on that momentum as the demanding winter schedule approaches.

United star receives brutal criticism

Despite the positive form of the team, Šeško has suffered a recent setback and could be injured for around a month after coming off against Tottenham Hotspur.

That was not a great game for the 22-year-old. He missed a great chance and got injured in the process, leaving his team to play with 10 men for the final minutes.

Šeško, who has scored twice for United so far, has also received criticism from some pundits and ex-Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is the latest to call him out.

Speaking about Sesko and Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres, Fowler told Adventure Gamers: “For me, I think the obvious one is Gyokeres. He’s probably better suited to the Premier League and he understands what is needed in terms of speed, energy and commitment.

“Whereas Sesko has probably struggled a little at times. He looks a little bit, I hope this doesn’t come across wrong, but he looks a bit of an academy player.

“I have no doubt he’s a good player. No one’s questioning his ability, but at the minute I think out of those two, it’s Gyokeres by far who looks better equipped.”

Šeško criticism is unfair

Šeško has started six Premier League games and contributed to goals in three of those. The criticism coming his way seems over the top and unfair.

We have already seen that he can link up with teammates better than Rasmus Højlund could, and he’s also winning aerial duels regularly which is helpful to United’s setup.

He is definitely not the finished product and missed some chances in his last couple of games, but there is not yet cause for any real concern.

But Šeško was always going to have to deal with media scrutiny and he will be hoping to prove them wrong when he is back on the pitch.
