Manchester United star will return to perfect role after manager confirmation
One Manchester United star will return to their former role this summer in a perfect move after their manager confirmed it.
The Reds have 10 players competing in international tournaments this summer, with eight of those being in Euro 2024.
Meanwhile, both Lisandro Martínez and Alejandro Garnacho will be in the Argentina squad for the Copa America; however, Garnacho has not played in either of the warm-up games against Ecuador and Guatemala.
Argentina head coach Lionel Scanoli has reassured that the 19-year-old winger will not be cut from the squad.
“I can guarantee that Garnacho will make the list; he will be with us, for sure,” he told Argentine journalists.
After making 50 appearances for United last season, Garnacho will have a more reserved role in this Copa Amercia tournament and will likely be making his impact off the bench.
This could be the best move for the United teenager, who will get the tournament experience but also won’t be overplayed after a long season.
Additionally, this is a role that Garnacho played perfectly for Erik ten Hag in 2022/23 before he broke into the team. His enegry and directness is a lethal weapon against tired legs and that could be a dangerous option for Scanoli in this tournament.
“He is a boy in whom we have a lot of expectations,” the manager added. “We have to carry him in the way we believe with the entire coaching staff, talking to him and insisting that there are things he has to do more often.
“He has one-against-one; he is fast, and that is what he has to do [that] more often. That’s what we try to talk to him about.
“He’s a guy who, as I said the other day, not only shouldn’t burn out stages but also come in when we think he can do it in a match.”
