Manchester United squad confirmed to face Manchester City in Premier League clash
Manchester United’s matchday squad to face Manchester City at Old Trafford has been confirmed ahead of kick-off.
The Reds host their city rivals in the latest edition of the Manchester derby and will be hoping that they can cause an upset.
Despite being on a three-game win run, United will need to drastically improve their performance against Pep Guardiola’s men to stand a chance of winning the game.
Last term, Erik ten Hag’s side were 2-1 victors at Old Trafford against City after a controversial goal was awarded to the home side. Michael Oliver, who was on VAR that day, is in the VAR room again today.
After he was left out of the under-21’s game on Friday, Kobbie Mainoo makes his return to a first-team squad following his pre-season injury.
The teenager joins the squad, which is made up by many faces expected, including the likes of Facundo Pellistri, Sergio Reguilon and Hannibal Mejbri.
However, one face that is not with the United squad is midfielder Casemiro. The Brazilian suffered injury during the international break and Ten Hag admitted that it would be ‘touch and go’ to see if he’d be fit for this game.
That will be seen as a big blow for the hosts, although they are not lacking quality in their midfield area and so it will be interesting to see who lines up in that trio.
The full squad, as reported by X user PlanetFaz, can be read below:
Onana, Bayindir, Heaton;
Dalot, Varane, Evans, Maguire, Lindelof, Reguilon;
McTominay, Amrabat, Eriksen, Hannibal, Mainoo, B.Fernandes, Mount;
Antony, Martial, Hojlund, Pellistri, Rashford, Garnacho
