Manchester United are reportedly set to reignite their interest in a £30 million midfielder this summer and Matheus Cunha is a big fan of the player.
As the summer transfer window opened, Manchester United prioritised strengthening their attack, securing Matheus Cunha as their first signing.
The 26-year-old forward, who netted 15 Premier League goals last season, is set to play a key role at Old Trafford moving forward.
United are also targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and adding both Cunha and Mbeumo would provide a major boost to Ruben Amorim’s attacking options.
The club now plans to add a striker and a midfielder, though those signings will depend on outgoing transfers, with multiple candidates currently being evaluated for each position.
United set to reignite interest in André
One of the midfielders the Reds are now considering is Wolves star André, who was linked with an Old Trafford move before his arrival in the Premier League.
That is according to Corriere dello Sport, who explain that United are not the only club eyeing a potential deal for the Brazilian international.
The 23-year-old is a key target for Juventus, who have previously held discussions with the player’s agent, and Liverpool are also keen on the midfielder.
It was added that United and Liverpool’s interest indicate that the Brazilian’s transfer situation could “heat up soon” as the transfer window enters a bust period.
Wolves are believed to have placed a £30 million price-tag on André, although it seems possible that this could rise with several clubs interested.
Cunha is a huge fan of André
Of course, United signed Cunha from Wolves earlier this summer and the club’s new no.10 was a close friend with André during his time at the Molineux.
Not only were they club teammates but the pair have also played together at international level for Brazil, and Cunha would certainly be a fan of United signing André.

After a victory over Leicester City towards the end of last season, Cunha responded to André’s Instagram post with the message, “NO WORDS! Hahahaha what a player.”
United are in need of a midfielder and many fans wanted the club to sign André before his Wolves move. It may be something the Reds revisit soon.
