Manchester United are set to have a £49 million summer boost after making decisions on two forward players.
Manchester United have been in outstanding form since Michael Carrick took charge as interim manager through to the end of the season.
The Reds put together an impressive four-match winning run against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, before earning a hard-fought and well-deserved draw away to West Ham last week.
Although securing positive results remains the immediate priority, United are also turning their attention to important matters ahead of the summer, including appointing a new permanent manager and identifying key transfer targets.
It promises to be a pivotal transfer window for the club, particularly if they secure qualification for the Champions League, and early indications suggest plans are already taking shape.
United set for £49m summer boost
According to a report from ManchesterWorld, United are planning to let both Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho leave the club permanently in the summer.
Rashford has a buy-option for £26 million at Barcelona and reports elsewhere have made it clear that they will not budge on that valuation.
Meanwhile, Sancho’s contract will be expiring in the summer after his United career failed to take off after his arrival in 2021. He has been on loans to Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and now Aston Villa.
Despite the fact that United will likely only receive £26 million in transfer fees for the attacking duo, the club are set to save big money on their wages.
They are two of the highest-earners at Old Trafford and the aforementioned report explained how United would save around £23 million over the next year with their wages off the books.
That would total £49 million that United would save over the next year, which could give them extra room to make new signings in the summer.
United cannot make past mistakes
United are also losing Casemiro in the summer after it was confirmed that he would not be signing an extension at Old Trafford.
Casemiro, Rashford and Sancho are three of the four highest-earners in the squad, with Bruno Fernandes the only player above those three in terms of his pay packet.

It has previously been explained how United need to improve their wage structure by losing some of their high earners and that is exactly what is happening now.
They will have the money to reinvest into the squad, but have to make sure that they are doing in the right way and not making the same mistakes from the past.
