Manchester United have set another unwanted club record on Sunday after losing 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Manchester United broke another unwanted club record after suffering their 15th league loss of the season against Wolves, the most from the club in Premier League history.
The Red Devils dominated England’s top flight since the Premier League’s inception in 1992, winning 13 titles until 2013.
That year also saw the end of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s career as he retired, unknowingly ending United’s domestic domination as the team are yet to return to that glory since.
This record-breaking season comes after last season’s 14 losses, which was also a record amount at the time, showing just how poor their domestic campaigns have been recently.
Amorim a record-breaker
Ruben Amorim will be in no great rush to play Wolves again, as the last time United faced them he broke another managerial record when he became the fastest United manager ever to lose four Premier League games.
He was understandably frustrated with his side in the post match interview after Sunday’s fixture, and admitted he’s already looking ahead to next season.
Amorim said: “We suffered a goal with their [Wolves’] only shot to the goal.
“They scored a goal, and we lost the game. It will be like this, ups and downs, and let’s finish the season.”
Worst team in United history?
Back in January, Amorim suggested that that this United team could be the “worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United“.
Since then it appears he may have been proven right, this disastrous campaign has also been United’s worst ever for points and league position.
United’s current lowest points total was 58 in the 2021-22 season under Erik ten Hag, even a perfect finish this season would only see them amass 53.
As well as this, United are on course to finish lower than they ever have before, with the Red Devils currently sitting in 14th, with their previous record being eighth last season.
