Manchester United are on the hunt for a striker this summer window, with a lack of firepower up front an issue highlighted by Erik ten Hag.

It has been reported on a number of occasions that Erik ten Hag is prioritising bringing in a new striker for his Manchester United squad in the coming summer, with many names being linked to the club in the last six months.

Harry Kane has been one option muttered by many sources, however, there is currently a battle going on between his own club Tottenham and potential suitors for the England captain, as Kane is weighing up whether to move on or sign a new deal with Spurs.

With that in mind, it seems as if United are hedging their bets on who their next frontman could be, and have sent scouts to watch two of Europe’s hottest talents at the moment.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have sent scouts to closely monitor the progress of both Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.

Ramos exploded onto the world stage during the 2022 Qatar world cup, scoring a fantastic hat trick for his home country Portugal against Switzerland after starting ahead of former Red Cristiano Ronaldo.

He was praised tremendously for his performances throughout the tournament, and rose to the top of many a watchlist of the biggest clubs around the world for the coming window, with Benfica likely to demand a huge fee should they decide to sell.

Victor Osimhen has been a name linked with United for a long time. At the age of 24 years old, Osimhen has established himself as one of the elite goalscorers of his generation, netting 18 goals in 19 league appearances as Napoli sit an incredibly 15 points ahead at the top of Serie A.

Osimhen reportedly once rejected a move to United out of respect for his hero Odion Ighalo, who was playing for the club at the time.

He has continued to impress ever since his debut season in Ligue Un with Lille and has scored 86 career goals.

Erik ten Hag recently brought in Dutch striker Wout Weghorst on a six-month loan to compensate for the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo, who had his contract terminated in November of last year for improper conduct.

The lack of availability of Anthony Martial has caused frustration this season, with the striker playing fewer than 1,000 minutes this season, despite scoring almost every time he plays.

Martial’s role in the team when he starts is clear, he does well to bring others into play and provides a quality goal threat, however his injuries mean that he is part of the crop of players that the squad are happy to see leave at the end of the season.
