Erik ten Hag has been dealt a double injury blow ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash against West Ham.

The Reds travel to London to face David Moyes’ side this weekend after having a week between games following their earlier Carabao Cup elimination.

Last time out, Ten Hag’s side earned a valuable point away against Liverpool following a resolute defensive display at Anfield.

Now, however, anything less than a victory for United at the London Stadium will be a disappointment. But Ten Hag has received bad news in terms of injury returns for two players.

He confirmed that Mason Mount, who returned to training at the beginning of the month, will be unavailable until January. As well as Victor Lindelof, who is out for two more weeks after undergoing surgery.

As well, the United manager has confirmed that there has been illness within the week, which may impact his team selection on the weekend, but did not reveal which players were suffering.

“We have some doubts, we have some illnesses during the week, so we have to see who is available for tomorrow,” Ten Hag admitted in his pre-match press conference on Friday. “Hopefully, they are recovered, but we have to see.”

He also provided expected updates on the duo of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez, who are both scheduled to return next month.

“They [Martinez and Casemiro] are not available before Christmas. Mid-January, we expect them back,” he added.

Speaking on the setbacks to Mount and Lindelof, as well as Harry Maguire’s injury status, Ten Hag concluded: “Mason Mount is similar, into January. Harry Maguire, I expect him early on [in the new year]. Victor Lindelof is not available. He has done surgery so he will be out for a couple of weeks.”
