Manchester United have received a potential transfer blow ahead of the summer window in relation to one Premier League target.

Manchester United are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they look to reshape Ruben Amorim’s squad with both arrivals and departures.

Amorim has endured a challenging start to his tenure at Old Trafford, managing only 11 wins in his first 23 matches.

With reinforcements clearly needed, the club must also navigate financial constraints, making player sales essential to facilitate new signings.

United are already eyeing some potential signings ahead of the window, with the attack being a clear area of concern for those in charge at the club.

United receive Eze transer blow

According to a report from Ben Jacobs, the Reds are among the clubs interested in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze ahead of the summer.

United have previously been linked with the England international, who has two more years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park.

The aforementioned report claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli are also interested in signing Eze in the summer window.

It was added that the 26-year-old’s preference is to remain in London, which would give Spurs an upper-hand if he was to decide to leave Palace after the season ends.

Eze’s current contract also includes a release clause which is believed to be in the region of £68 million.

United need to focus on other deals

United’s current system does seem like it would suit a player like Eze but there are understandable question marks about signing him for such big money.

The Premier League club have no reason to sell the attacking player for any less than his release clause value and United need to start making deals in between the £20-40 million mark rather than higher.

Signing players like Antony and Rasmus Højlund for major amounts has come back to bite the club and INEOS should be thinking that they can make a smarter signing than Eze.

Although, there also needs to be a balance, with the Reds also needing some major experience and guaranteed success in the transfer market – that doesn’t come cheap.

The position where they need that most, however, is up front and reports suggest they are targeting Victor Osimhen, which would be a tremendous signing and something worth splashing the cash for.
