Manchester United receive potential transfer boost as Fabrizio Romano confirms £48m double sale

Manchester United have received a potential transfer boost this summer after Fabrizio Romano confirmed two sales in the market over the last week.

This summer, Manchester United are eager to strengthen their squad with new signings, and that process is already underway.

Matheus Cunha is through the door already and a move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo is on the verge of being completed, with a medical expected next week.

Equally crucial, however, is offloading players who are no longer part of the club’s plans—not just to raise funds, but also to streamline an overly large squad.

Several members of Ruben Amorim’s team could be candidates for departure, but the most likely exits are those who spent time out on loan last season.

Jadon Sancho spent the full campaign at Chelsea, while Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia were loaned out during the January transfer window.

Antony enjoyed a successful time on loan at Real Betis in the second half of last season. He scored nine goals and registered five assists in 26 appearances.

It is well known that the Spanish side want to welcome Antony back to the club next season but United are looking for around £35 million to ensure they do not make a loss on the books.

Betis have been suggesting that this figure is out of their reach but the latest reports from Fabrizio Romano suggest that might be changing.

Earlier this week the Italian reporter confirmed that an agreement had been reached for Johnny Cardoso to join Atletico Madrid in a £25 million move.

Now, Romano has revealed that Betis have also agreed to sell Jesús Rodriguez to Como for a £23 million package, with his medical at the Serie A club coming next week.

That means that Betis are getting around £48 million from those two deals and are also losing one of their wingers in Rodriguez, which could influence what they’re willing to offer for Antony.

Early Antony exit better for player and club

It would be very positive business if United can find a solution for Antony in the coming weeks, not only because they would be able to spend the extra cash on new signings.

But for both player and club, it would be better if he is training at his new team when pre-season starts rather than being at Carrington when it is clear his future does not lie there.

Pre-season is going to be crucial for the Reds and they need everyone to be fully focused on the task at hand, and those looking for the exit door will not have that stance.

Betis don’t really have an excuse to avoid paying the money now, but it will be interesting to see what happens.
