Manchester United receive Noussair Mazraoui injury update after Man City issue
Noussair Mazraoui was substituted in the second half of Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League.
Manchester United secured a stunning comeback win against rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon as Amad Diallo stole the show at the Etihad Stadium.
The Ivorian winger won a penalty for Bruno Fernandes to equalise minutes before scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute to secure all three points.
Noussair Mazraoui started the game at right wingback after playing and impressing in the back three in recent games.
He dealt with Jeremy Doku extremely well during his time on the flank but ended up being replaced by Antony after 78 minutes.
The 27-year-old was seen limping in the mixed zone after the game and Ruben Amorim admitted that he was concerned about the two injuries sustained in the match.
Asked why he went straight down the tunnel after full-time, the head coach responded: “It’s more the problem with Mason [Mount] and Nous.
“You think right away, you go in the tunnel and think right away because we have a lot of games, you know.”
Mazraoui has been a key player for United so far this season after his summer transfer from Bayern Munich and his versatility is great for Amorim.
Fortunately, reports from UtdMenace have suggested that the ‘early indications’ are that Mazraoui is fine and will not have time out of action.
It was added that further tests are needed for Mount, who was replaced just 14 minutes into the derby after a non-contact injury occurred.
The English midfielder will certainly be disappointed and the hope is that he will not be unavailable for long.
But it is great news that United will not be missing Mazraoui in this busy period of the season, with games against Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Wolves coming in the next week.
