Manchester United have received an injury boost after several issues happened at the beginning of this season.
Manchester United have made a mixed start to the season, picking up only one win from their opening four matches.
In the Premier League, there have been encouraging signs – especially in the performances against Arsenal and Burnley – but the Carabao Cup loss to Grimsby Town came as a huge disappointment.
Ruben Amorim will be looking for significant progress once his side return from the international break, while also hoping the squad avoids any fresh injury setbacks during that period.
There have already been injury concerns for Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha, while Diogo Dalot has left Portugal duty early with a muscular issue.
Injury concerns aren’t just in the first-team at Old Trafford, with Sekou Kone recently suffering a head injury which led to the postponement of United Under-21’s clash with Tamworth in the National League Cup.
United receive injury boost for ‘high potential’ star
Kone, 19, was sent to hospital after a nasty hit to his head the Under-21s first game of the season but he fortunately was sent home the following morning after tests.
The youngster has not returned to the pitch since then but updates on his current condition have since emerged.
According to SullyTalkz on X, Kone is now doing individual work on the grass at Carrington as he steps up his recovery work.
He added that the 19-year-old midfielder is set to return to group training with the Under-21s squad soon as his injury is not viewed as serious. Travis Binnion has labelled Kone as a ‘high potential’ player.
Then, the report explained that Kone could be involved in Ruben Amorim’s plans later this season as a wildcard option in the midfield.
Kone will get a chance at United
United’s biggest problem right now is no longer the frontline, with the additions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško.
It will also hopefully not be in between the sticks after the signing of Senne Lammens as a new goalkeeper.
But the concern in the middle of the park remains for Amorim after the Reds were unable to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Kone is a young and raw talent but – at least on paper – he matches the profile of player United need in their engine room.
After missing out on a first-team debut last term, it would not be surprising to see the Mali youth international break into Amorim’s squad and make an impact, but he needs to do plenty of developing in the coming months to make that happen.
