Manchester United have received some disappointing news about one “unbelievable” star this summer as Ruben Amorim’s transfer plan appears to have fallen apart.
After a dreadful campaign last term, Manchester United are trying to turn things around in the summer transfer window.
Matheus Cunha has been signed already while there are plans for Bryan Mbeumo to join him in Ruben Amorim’s new-look offensive line.
However, further additions upfront, in midfielder or at wingback are dependent on player sales this summer, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho all available for transfer.
Rashford was one of several United players to spend time out on loan last season and he impressed at Aston Villa, being labelled “unbelievable” for some of his performances.
United receive disappointing news on Rashford
There have been a lot of rumours surrounding Rashford in recent weeks, particularly about his desire to move to Barcelona this summer.
The Spanish club have reportedly been open to signing the winger on loan, but all stories have claimed that United only want a permanent sale.
Now, reports from the Manchester Evening News claim that United are now prepared for the possibility that they could have to send Rashford out on loan for the entire season next term.
It was revealed that Inter Milan have enquired about the 27-year-old but only if he’s available on loan. United now believe that there is now only a ‘low possibility’ that someone pays £40 million for the player.
The report adds that Rashford does not want to take a wage cut and so his options are limited in terms of potential suitors.
Amorim’s transfer plan has fallen apart
Amorim decided back in December that he would try and take short-term pain for long-term gain. Not having Rashford in the squad made the attack worse, especially with no replacement, but the idea was that he could shine on loan and be sold.
Getting £40 million of pure profit for Rashford this summer would’ve been hugely beneficial for the Reds in terms of being able to get more signings through the door.
But that plan appears to have fallen apart, and United are left wondering where they get cash from in the coming weeks, with clubs also hesitant to pay up for Jadon Sancho, Garnacho or Antony.
It isn’t ludicrous to now suggest what the actual point was of weakening United’s attack mid-season last term if they cannot get permanent deals over the line this summer.
