Manchester United have now received club-to-club contact for Marcus Rashford as the winger aims to return under Rúben Amorim for pre-season.
Marcus Rashford’s time at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close, with Rúben Amorim reportedly no longer viewing him as part of his plans at Old Trafford.
Having made 426 appearances for the club, scoring 138 goals and registering 77 assists, the Academy product looks set to move on.
A fallout with Amorim—sparked by concerns over Rashford’s training attitude—led to a six-month loan spell at Aston Villa during the 2024/25 season.
Although he impressed during his stint in Birmingham, Villa chose not to trigger the £40 million option to buy, and Rashford is now available on the market this summer for a similar price.
United receive club-to-club contact for Rashford
Although there has been tentative interest in Rashford from across Europe, it has been made clear in the media that the player will do whatever it takes to secure a loan move to Barcelona this summer.
According to ESPN, this deal has now taken a step forward, with Barcelona having now initiated conversations with United.
According to the report, Barcelona have requested details on the winger’s current situation at United, although they have stressed that they would rather sign the player on loan.
Barcelona are well known to be a club continuing to face financial difficulties, and any loan move for Rashford to join the Catalan club this summer.

As for those who are expected to leave United this summer, the latest reports suggest that no final decision has been made on whether any of Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, or Alejandro Garnacho will be on the club’s pre-season tour.
Pre-season training begins in mid-July, with five friendlies scheduled. The first sees United head to Sweden to face long-time rivals Leeds United at the Strawberry Arena.
They’ll then travel across the Atlantic for games against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton in the United States, before returning to Old Trafford to take on Fiorentina—featuring former goalkeeper David de Gea—in their final warm-up match.
The Premier League have confirmed that United will begin their league campaign with a blockbuster home clash against Arsenal on Sunday, 17 August, kicking off at 16:30 BST.
