Manchester United predicted XI vs Everton as unexpected Bryan Mbeumo decision made (pre-season)

Bryan Mbeumo will be granted his first minutes in a Manchester United shirt as Rúben Amorim plays his third and final pre-season fixture in the United States.

Manchester United are preparing for their penultimate pre-season match of 2025, with Rúben Amorim now focused on their final Premier League Summer Series fixture against Everton.

Two weeks ago, United played out a 0-0 draw with Leeds United in Sweden before flying to the United States to take part in the Summer Series.

They started their campaign with a 2-1 win over West Ham in New Jersey, followed by an emphatic 4-1 victory against Bournemouth in Chicago.

Next up is Everton in Atalanta, marking the final game of the tournament before United return to Old Trafford to face Fiorentina—just a week ahead of their 2025/26 Premier League opener against Arsenal.

Mbeumo set to play vs Everton

Although new signing Bryan Mbeumo travelled with the squad for their pre-season training sessions in Chicago, he is yet to make an appearance for the club because he is two weeks behind the rest in terms of his fitness.

Despite Tom Heaton playing the 90 minutes against Bournemouth on Thursday evening, it’s expected that Altay Bayındır will return to the sticks for the Everton tie.

There are some concerns surrounding Harry Maguire’s fitness levels after two substitutions in recent games, so Matthijs de Ligt may return in the middle of the back three. With Noussair Mazraoui not training, it’s thought Leny Yoro will continue on the right of defence, while Ayden Heaven could return on the left.

In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo was rested in mid-week, but could return to the team. There has been debate surrounding who will partner Bruno Fernandes, and the Everton tie could be the perfect chance to trial Mainoo and Fernandes in the middle of the park against a Premier League side.

Amad performed well on Thursday evening against Bournemouth as one of the No. 10s, but with his position this season looking more likely at right wing-back, he may return there for the coming fixture. Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu was electric on the left flank and is expected to continue.

As for Mbeumo, Amorim has confirmed that the Cameroon international will be making his first appearance in Red on Sunday evening in Atlanta, although it’s unclear if this will be from the start or not.

With Amorim no doubt keen to get Mbeumo up to speed as soon as possible, the 25-year-old may be handed an unexpected start for United to play with his starting XI teammates, but could come off after 45 minutes to help slowly build his fitness.

Matheus Cunha was omitted from the side that defeated Bournemouth to manage his minutes, and is expected to return on the left of the front three, with Mbeumo on the right. Rasmus Højlund is also likely to start up front after scoring in midweek.
