Manchester United player ratings vs Crystal Palace in 1-1 Premier League draw
Manchester United were denied three points at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening against Crystal Palace as Bruno Fernandes’ first-half goal was countered out by Michael Olise’s incredible last-minute free-kick.
The Portuguese midfielder’s first-half goal was a reward for a controlling display before Olise snatched a point at the end of the game.
The player ratings can be read below.
David de Gea – 8.5/10
Absolutely phenomenal save in the first half before United opened the scoring. Some good clips wide too before another crucial stop from a corner in the second half. Nothing he could do about the goal.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 9/10
His best performance so far since he came back into the team. Huge tackle on Wilfred Zaha when he was on the break. Last minute tackle on Zaha saved United their point.
Raphael Varane – 7.5/10
Solid when under pressure in moments. Mopped up multiple times.
Lisandro Martinez – 7/10
Collision in the opening exchanges. A little rusty with his passing between the lines but still progressed well. Yellow card early in the second half after being bypassed by Michael Olise.
Luke Shaw – 7/10
Took a bit of time to get into the game but went close with a near-perfectly struck volley mid-way through the first half. Defended well against Olise in the second half but fouled his opposite full-back for the free-kick goal.
Casemiro – 9/10
Slightly less aggressive approach, aware he could not afford a yellow card. Still sniffed out a ridiculous amount of Palace attacks and launched United forward throughout. Still, a reckless challenge in the late stages of the game means he misses the Arsenal game on the weekend. Fred was ready to replace his Brazilian partner as the foul occurred. So close to the winner at the death.
Christian Eriksen – 8/10
Brilliant awareness to find Bruno for the opener and was consistent all night. Surprised everyone in the stadium when he kept up with an accelerating Zaha and then cheekily backheeled the ball to safety. Replaced by Fred.
Bruno Fernandes – 7.5/10
Composed finish, taking an extra touch before firing into the far right corner for United’s first and his 100th goal contribution during his time with the club. Good defensive work throughout.
Antony – 5.5/10
Worked hard but lack of quality on the ball. The story of his last few weeks. Subbed after 69 minutes.
Wout Weghorst – 7.5/10
A solid debut. Almost scored with a difficult headed effort and his movement created the space for Bruno’s opener. Good link-up all evening before being replaced.
Marcus Rashford – 7/10
Quiet night for United’s top goalscorer, even though he played a brilliant through ball to Eriksen for the opener. Eight consecutive games of scoring was not meant to be.
Substitutes
Alejandro Garnacho – 6.5/10
Another impactful performance from the bench. Close with a driven shot late on.
Scott McTominay – 6/10
Could’ve earned United a penalty.
Fred – N/A
