Manchester United player ratings in 1-0 win vs Aston Villa in Premier League clash
Manchester United earned an important three points against Aston Villa as Erik ten Hag’s side looks set to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.
After slipping against Tottenham Hotspur midweek, it was crucial for United to respond against Unai Emery’s side, who have been one of the most in-form teams in the league for several months.
Bruno Fernandes’ first-half strike was the difference between the two teams in the end, but it was mostly a controlling performance from the Reds at Old Trafford yet again.
The UtdDistrict player ratings can be read below:
David de Gea – 6.5/10
One important save in the first half and some good punches.
Diogo Dalot – 7/10
Wastefulat times but overall a solid performance.
Victor Lindelof – 9/10
Really important header away at the start of the second half to deny Watkins. Then a game-winning goal-line clearance late on despite the flag being raised for offside moments later. Solid performance.
Luke Shaw – 9/10
Phenomenal again from the defender, who’s currently playing out of position but you wouldn’t guess it. Brilliant ball playing but also some important defensive work.
Tyrell Malacia – 7/10
An improved performance. Crucial tackle inside the United box in the first half and solid link-up play throughout. Some sloppy moments.
Casemiro – 8/10
After a few disappointing games, the Brazilian was nearly back to his best today with important interceptions and a much-improved display on the ball.
Christian Eriksen – 6/10
A somewhat wasteful performance from the Dane who’s usually so precise in possession.
Bruno Fernandes – 8/10
Scored the winning goal just six days after being pictured at his home with crutches. That’s Bruno Fernandes.
Marcel Sabitzer – 6/10
Some good moments but didn’t impact the game enough.
Jadon Sancho – 7.5/10
Another solid showing from the winger as he started his 7th game in the last nine. Could’ve easily had an assist or two and looked more urgent in his play on and off the ball.
Marcus Rashford – 7.5/10
Hard-working up front and constantly worked Villa’s backline but was not rewarded with a goal.
Substitutes
Fred – 6/10
Better performance from the bench.
Antony – 6/10
Worked hard. Better first touch and could’ve scored.
Harry Maguire – N/A
Anthony Martial – N/A
Close to getting an assist.
