Manchester United won a penalty shootout against Brighton in the semi-final of the FA Cup after a goalless encounter in normal time at Wembley Stadium.

There were chances for either side throughout the game but no one could find the opening.

Solly March missed The Seagulls’ seventh penalty to give Victor Lindelof the opportunity to seal United’s place in the final against Manchester City. The defender slotted his spot kick expertly to win the game.

Here are the player ratings for the United players across the game.

David de Gea – 7/10

Instructed to play long against the Brighton high press. Made three important saves. Could not get to any penalty in the shootout but thankfully came out on top.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8/10

A solid game against the dangerous Mitoma. One incredible run in the second half had Wembley on its feet.

Victor Lindelöf – 8.5/10

Another astute performance from the Swede. Has been reliable when coming into the side this term and scored the winning penalty in style.

Luke Shaw – 8.5/10

A brilliant game when you consider the circumstances he returned into. Took a yellow card for Dalot’s mistake.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10

A fairly average game from the defender.

Casemiro – 7/10

Still not quite looking like himself since returning from suspension. However, he was much improved in the second half of the game.

Christian Eriksen – 5.5/10

Always looks better when United dominate and this was not one of those games. Did play a superb crossfield volleyed pass to Rashford to create a good chance.

Antony – 7.5/10

Another impressive overall performance from the winger. He was United’s most dangerous forward player but didn’t quite have the killer instinct once he got into the box.

Bruno Fernandes – 7.5/10

A brilliant first-half display where he was close to scoring once or twice. His legs were gone by extra time though and was substituted. Continued to lead the team from the sidelines.

Marcus Rashford – 5/10

Quite anonymous throughout the game. One brilliant shot late into extra time almost won United the game before penalties.

Anthony Martial – 6/10

Didn’t get much to feed from for the most part but needed to make an option for Antony when crossing midway through the second half. Referee Craig Pawson did not help the Frenchman, however, considering Adam Webster was allowed to continue to foul him without punishment.

Substitutes

Fred – 8/10

Made a really positive contribution and helped United adjust out of possession. Brilliant in extra time.

Jadon Sancho – 7/10

A good cameo from the winger and a well-taken penalty.

Marcel Sabitzer – 7/10

Came on and did well. Let’s not talk about that free-kick though…

Wout Weghorst – 7/10

Did his job when he came on and scored his penalty.

Tyrell Malacia – 7/10

Did his job.
