Manchester United outcast makes dramatic January transfer U-turn, agent confirms
Manchester United enter the 2025 January transfer window in a challenging position, where sales are needed to have any chance of improving the squad with signings.
Ruben Amorim, who has only been at Manchester United for two months, faces the tough challenge of overhauling a squad in dire need of reinforcements.
However, the club’s financial situation is precarious, largely due to the significant spending during Erik ten Hag’s two-and-a-half-year tenure.
United have several clear priorities to help the new head coach, with a left wingback being the most urgent addition needed. Unfortunately, limited funds mean they cannot fully address all these issues at once.
They will still hope to be doing some business in the January transfer window, but will first need to open space in the squad by making some sales, with several players linked with mid-season exits.
Bayindir’s agent reveals United transfer truth
Altay Bayindir’s future has been uncertain after playing just four times for the club since his United arrival in the summer of 2023.
It appeared that Bayindir could be allowed to leave the Old Trafford outfit this month, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that a January exit was on the cards.
In fact, the goalkeepers’ agent has revealed that clubs are currently interested in his services.
But in what seems to be a major U-turn, Seyrek has also explained that United’s no.1 wants to stay at the club and that United ‘definitely does not want’ to sanction any sale.
“There were offers from many European clubs and the Premier League for Altay at the beginning of the season,” Seyrek told Sports Digitale.
“There are currently clubs that are interested, but Altay wants to stay and play for Manchester United. The club definitely does not want to let Altay go.”
Bayindir finding it difficult to impress
It feels like many people forget how difficult it is being a backup goalkeeper, especially one that barely plays the cup competitions as well.
Bayindir comes into the side once in a blue moon and is expected to not make errors. It is a tough job and one that he is finding out about.
He may be very useful behind the scenes to push André Onana, but it seems surprising that he doesn’t yet want to move away from the back-up position and find himself as a starter elsewhere.

It may be something that he and his agents revisit in the summer when there are more opportunities in Europe, but it seems like United will be making sales elsewhere for now.
