Manchester United have to now react after a £67.5 million double transfer as a potential sale moves into ‘advanced talks’ this week.
After bringing in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Šeško this summer, Manchester United are now turning their attention to player sales.
The club is still exploring potential reinforcements in midfield and between the posts before the transfer deadline, with Carlos Baleba identified as the top midfield target.
However, having already spent roughly £200 million without recouping any funds, United must offload players to facilitate further signings.
Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho are among those up for sale, with interest emerging from several clubs.
Garnacho to Chelsea in advanced talks
With just over two weeks of the transfer window remaining, it finally looks like some progress is being made on potential exits for United.
An offer has come in for Jadon Sancho, a potential loan is moving closer for Højlund to AC Milan and Chelsea are getting closer with their pursuit of Garnacho.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are ‘very advanced’ behind the scenes. It seems like an offer could be coming to Old Trafford soon.
But it is well known that Chelsea do not want to match United’s £50 million demands for Garnacho and are trying to get a cut price deal.
United must react to £67.5m transfers
United haven’t put themselves in the strongest position in this deal simply because it is clear that Garnacho has no future at Old Trafford. But the club simply have to react to the market at the moment.
Anthony Elanga and Noni Madueke both moving for over £50 million earlier in the summer was a strong reminder of the price Garnacho should be heading for.
But now, it has been reported by David Ornstein that Nottingham Forest are set to sign Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town for £37.5 million and James McAtee from Manchester City for £30 million.
This is around the price which Chelsea want to sign Garnacho for but those two deals must be something that United look at and react to.
If it means they reject Chelsea and have to keep Garnacho until January, then it might just have to be a decision they have to swallow in order to gain respect in the market.
