Manchester United make classy fan gesture following harsh Premier League decision

Manchester United have provided their fans with a classy gesture following a harsh decision made by the Premier League regarding their fixture arrangements.

Manchester United have managed to turn their season around in recent weeks, under the management of Michael Carrick, who has picked up 13 points from his first five Premier League fixtures.

Their most recent bout came against West Ham United, where the travelling Red Devils managed to secure a point late into proceedings thanks to a Benjamin Šeško volley.

Having enjoyed a weekend off, the Reds will be freshly prepared for their upcoming trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday evening, where they will look to keep their fine form going.

Despite being better money for their fans as of late, times have still been tough for United’s match-going supporters, due to the Premier League’s fixture arrangements.

United provide goodwill gesture

United’s travelling support will yet again have to travel for a late kick-off when they visit the Vitality Stadium on Friday, 20 March, to face AFC Bournemouth.

Due to the Reds’ absence from cup competitions, between February 9 and April 10, United will only play on either a Saturday or a Sunday twice in eight weekends.

This is a logistical nightmare for the travelling fans, who have voiced their concerns, as they are constantly having to make the long, late journeys to see their team in action.

To make times slightly easier for the match-going support, United are going to provide free return coach travel to Manchester for their fans attending the Bournemouth fixture in March, as reported by BBC Sport.

United’s tricky scheduling

Although the late kick-offs won’t affect the United players as much as it does their travelling fans, their tricky scheduling may be used as motivation for them to earn a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

United’s lack of participation in both their domestic cup competitions as well as the European competitions has resulted in them often playing late midweek kick-offs.

It is yet to be understood whether the fans are thankful for this gesture of goodwill by their club, although, given the round trip is of 500 miles from Old Trafford, it will surely be appreciated.

Hopefully, the Reds can continue to make the long, difficult journeys worth it for their supporters as they continue in their pursuit of a spot in next season’s Champions League.
