Manchester United loan star ‘receiving rave reviews’ after impressive display, he “dazzled” fans

One of Manchester United’s loan stars has received plenty of rave reviews following his top-quality display at the weekend for his new side.

During the summer, Manchester United underwent a squad clear-out, where they either sold or loaned out a plethora of their stars, and replaced them with four new signings.

Ruben Amorim’s side prioritised attacking incomings, with Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Bryan Mbeumo all joining to create a brand new front three for the Reds.

Despite these additions, the Reds have had a slow start to the season, sitting 14th in the Premier League whilst also being knocked out in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The fourth and final signing of United’s window, who is yet to play, is goalkeeper Senne Lammens. This acquisition ultimately led to the loan departure of Andre Onana, who is spending the season in Turkey.

Onana receives rave reviews

The Cameroon international decided it would be best to find game time elsewhere and joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan.

Onana played his first fixture for his new side on Sunday, which meant that on the day of the Manchester derby, United’s former shot-stopper faced off with Manchester City’s former number one, Ederson, who now plays for Fenerbahce.

In a similar fashion to the Manchester derby, it was City’s man who came out on top, although Onana has received plenty of praise for his efforts during the fixture.

Despite the result, Onana’s performance went down well with fans and Turkish media. Website 61saat.com said, via Manchester Evening News, that Onana had “dazzled in his first appearance” and had earned “rave reviews from fans for his performance.”

The title lauded his ability with the ball at his feet, saying: “His footwork allowed him to build play from the back. At times, he would weave between the defenders to join the passing game, enabling his team to push forward with short, audacious passes. At one point, he even went as far as midfield to take a free kick.”

Lammens debut on the horizon?

Onana was replaced at United after a couple of seasons riddled with consistent errors, with Lammens coming in to take his place as a competitor for the starting spot between the sticks.

The first potential chance for Lammens to start was the Manchester derby, which he was left out of, as Amorim preferred to stick with the experienced Altay Bayindir.

Due to the nature of the result against United’s local rivals, there is a potential chance that the Belgian shot-stopper’s debut is as soon as next Saturday, as the Reds host Chelsea.

If he doesn’t feature in this fixture, it can be expected that he will be given the nod in the home fixture that follows, where United host newly-promoted side Sunderland.
