Paul Pogba is currently a free agent and Manchester United have been told that he would be “very keen” to return to the club.

Manchester United made just one major signing in the January transfer window, bringing in Patrick Dorgu for around £25 million.

With ongoing concerns about the financial situation at Old Trafford, many have suggested that exploring the free-agent market could be a viable option ahead of the summer window.

Paul Pogba, whose ban from football was recently reduced after it was determined that his ingestion of a banned substance was unintentional, is set to return to action soon. The former Manchester United midfielder has left Juventus and is currently without a club.

Speculation about a potential return to Old Trafford intensified following Pogba’s recent Instagram activity and several reports have linked the Frenchman with a sensational return, which would mark his third spell at United.

Yorke urges United to re-sign Pogba

During his time at United, Pogba split opinion within the United fanbase and that would certainly not change if he was to come back to the club.

United legend Dwight Yorke has made his opinion known, claiming that Pogba would be a great signing for Ruben Amorim, claiming that the midfielder is still “far better” than United’s current options despite having not played for almost two years.

Yorke has also suggested that Pogba would be “very keen” to make a return to the club but might want to sign a long-term deal.

The ex-striker told casinobeats.com: “I would give Paul Pogba a third chance, definitely, because of what United currently have and because of what we know he is capable of producing.

“Obviously, with two months left, I would say, let’s have a look. Give him a contract. You’ve got time here to prove yourself.

“You can come and play and help us out with the situation I’m sure Pogba would be very keen. Maybe he might want a long-term deal because of the security.

“I can see why his name has been mentioned because United have struggled, and Pogba is a damn good player. Even though he’s 31, I think he’s far better than what we have now. And if you’re going to get a player for free, who’s far better than all our players in midfield, then you do it.”

Amorim already responded to Pogba rumours

Amorim has already responded to rumours with potential free agents amid the links to Pogba’s potential return.

The head coach played down any potential free agent signings last week, claiming that he wants to trust in the youth players while United’s first-team is struggling for numbers.

“No, no. Not that idea,” the United boss instantly replied to a question about free agents. “We have young players, we are working with young players.

“We have to really focus on that, as a club, when we have, at this moment, a lot of injuries. We should use the young players. If not, you don’t have the space for them to improve and show themselves.

“I think we really need to focus in the future of our club on the youth, because of the history and because of the reality of our club.”

Chido Obi was given his United debut earlier this month and is expected to continue working in the first-team for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, the likes of Sekou Kone, Jack Moorhouse and Tyler Fredricson have also been named on the bench recently and could make their debuts before the end of the season.
