Manchester United are considering joining the race for Bayern Munich star Mathys Tel before the January transfer window slams shut.

Manchester United have finally started making movements in the transfer window in an attempt to help Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Antony’s loan departure to Real Betis was confirmed last week and several other temporary exits have occurred for Academy players like Ethan Ennis.

Importantly, the club have also reached an agreement for the signing of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for a reported £25 million fee.

Young central defender Ayden Heaven has also agreed to join United after rejecting a contract offer from his current team Arsenal, and he is expected to be part of Amorim’s first-team squad.

However, further departures are also expected before the window shuts and United are eyeing potential signings in the event of that happening.

It has been explained by Sky Germany that Mathys Tel is a player the club are considering after it was revealed he wants to leave Bayern Munich before deadline day.

United learn price tag for Bayern star Tel

Tel has been at the Bundesliga giants since the summer of 2022 when he joined them from Stade Rennais. United fans will already be aware of the forward after he scored against the Reds during the 2023/24 Champions League campaign.

The 19-year-old has made 82 appearances for Bayern but the majority of those have come from the bench, with just 15 starts for the club.

This has led to the teenager being desperate for a move away this month and many clubs, including Chelsea, have interest in the player.

Reports from MailOnline have claimed that Tel would cost a club around £40 million if he was to leave on a permanent deal, which a potential loan exit is also reportedly being discussed.

Amorim’s transfer condition explained

The aforementioned report from Sky Germany clarified that United will only move for Tel if one of Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford departs before the window shuts.

Both wingers have been heavily linked with exits from Old Trafford, with Chelsea and Napoli considering a move for £60 million-rated Garnacho.

Should either of those two players depart, United would spring into action to try and sign another forward and Tel appears to be a name on that list.

It is quite clear that Amorim has one condition for the exit of any of his forward players; a replacement must also be found, even if it is a short-term solution.

The United boss does not want the club to make mistakes in the transfer window but United are already down to the bare bones up front and can not lose another player without a replacement.
