Manchester United learn FA’s decision on Phil Foden chants during derby after Pep Guardiola rant

Manchester United have learned the FA’s decision on whether a punishment will be issued after chants about Phil Foden during the Manchester Derby were slammed by Pep Guardiola.

The Manchester Derby often brings goals and entertainment but the two were impossible to find on Sunday afternoon in the latest clash between the two sides.

Manchester United produced a similar performance to what we’re becoming used to in recent months – some steady progress and decent football matched with zero killer instinct in the final third.

Meanwhile, the visitors Manchester City produced little threat themselves, with many of their players disappointing during the game.

Phil Foden was hooked off early in the second half after having minimal impact throughout the game and was hounded by the Old Trafford crowd when he left the pitch and later when he walked down the tunnel.

Guardiola rants about Foden chants from United fans

When asked about the Foden chants after the game, City boss Pep Guardiola was furious and ranted about how the United fans “should be ashamed” with how they acted.

“Lack of class. But it’s not United, it’s the people, you know?” the City boss stated in his press conference.

“We are so exposed in the screen in world football – managers, owners, and football players especially.

“Honestly, I don’t understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil, it’s a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed.”

United learn FA decision on Foden chants

Following on from Guardiola’s comments, a report from MailSport journalist Chris Wheeler revealed that the Football Association are not planning to take action against United.

It was claimed that while the FA “condemn” the chants made from the United fans, they “don’t breach regulations” and there will be no punishment.

“I understand the FA are aware of the chants about Phil Foden’s mother by Man Utd fans at Old Trafford yesterday and condemn them, but won’t take any action because they don’t breach regulations,” Wheeler wrote on X.

In the end, it shows how boring the game was that this has been one of the main stories to come out following the match.

United will hope that they can produce some excitement in their next game against Lyon to ensure that the attention stays about what happens on the pitch.
