Manchester United keeping close eye on potential Premier League ban, Mike Dean says there is ‘trouble’
Manchester United will be keeping a close eye on a potential Premier League ban, with Mike Dean suggesting one player is ‘in trouble’.
Manchester United will be ecstatic after their dramatic derby day win against Manchester City on the weekend.
Despite the incredible comeback win, Ruben Amorim’s side will need to re-focus ahead of some tough upcoming fixtures.
They will have a Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening before hosting Bournemouth on the weekend.
After that, Amorim’s men will be travelling away to Wolves in the Premier League, who will be looking to turn their fortunes around under a new manager.
Gary O’Neil was sacked from his position at the Molineux on the weekend after their 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town which leaves them 19th in the league table.
The classic new manager bounce could be in play, especially since Wolves have a much better squad than they have showed this season.
However, they could also be facing a serious setback for upcoming games which United will certainly be keeping an eye on.
United keeping close eye on Cunha situation
In the aftermath of their defeat to the Tractor Boys, tensions were high and Wolves star Matheus Cunha was involved in the scuffles on the pitch.
Cunha could be seen pushing an Ipswich Town staff member in the face, which knocked off his glasses. It also looked like the Brazilian had elbowed the individual in the back of the head shortly beforehand.
This may see Wolves’ main man face a punishment from the Football Association and a potential Premier League ban could be forthcoming.
Former Premier League referee, Mike Dean, thinks that Cunha will now be ‘in trouble’ with the FA over the incident.
“Going back to the suspension. Cunha, the biggest player that they’ve got. I’ve watched the footage back afterwards,” Dean told Sky Sports.
“He elbows the back of the head of one of the Ipswich coaches. Then he pulls his glasses off and throws them to the pitch. For me, I think he’ll be in trouble with the FA.”
This could mean that Cunha misses the game against United, which would be a big boost to Amorim’s side ahead of the game.
Despite their awful form so far this season, the 25-year-old attacker has been really impressive. He has eight goals and three assists in the league so far this term and would be a huge miss for Wolves in their upcoming fixtures.
