Manchester United insider reveals January plans for Harry Amass following strong loan spell

One Manchester United loanee’s successful spell has left question marks regarding where he’s going to spend the remainder of the season.

Manchester United youngster Harry Amass joined Championship sode Sheffeild Wednesday earlier this season and since his move has made fantastic improvements despite off-field issues that Sheffeild are facing.

The 18-year-old has recently been named Wednesday’s player of the month, as well as racking up 16 Championship appearances so far this season, leaving academy staff at Old Trafford throughly impressed.

Due to this spike in the defender’s performance, suggestions have been made that Amass may be recalled and sent elsewhere to finish his loan spell. Since joining the Owls, the youngster has attracted the interest of better-performing sides, impressed by his progress.

However, no official records have yet been shared of United’s plans to cut the English youths’ spell at Wednesday early only reports about his progress. Former United chief scout Mick Brown has supported this, informing Football Insider of the solid progress Amass is making whilst at Hillsborough.

Brown on Amass

Brown has previously told journalists of United’s strong liking towards Amass, with their long-term goal for the left back to be a permanent fixture within their starting 11.

Although some people see the best option for Amass at this current time is to spend the duration of the rest of his loan elsewhere. Brown shared his wealth of knowledge, stating that a move for Amass at this time would not be likely, with United remaining careful not to undo any of the progress the defender has made since joining Wednesday in September.

During his interview with Football Insider, he told their team that, “Sheffield Wednesday have had a torrid time in recent months.

“It’s not of their own making; some of their best players have been allowed to walk out of the door due to the situation with the owner and the management of the club.

“Since Harry Amass has gone there on loan, he’s put in some very good performances in difficult conditions and established himself as a key player

“From what I’m told, Man United are very happy with his development, he’s playing regular football at a high level and constantly improving.

“To rip that up, bring him back from his loan and then look to send him elsewhere, you put all of that at risk because there are too many issues that could come up.

“What if he goes elsewhere and doesn’t play as often? What if he doesn’t fit in as well as he has at Wednesday? These are things they need to consider.

“So United are happy with what he’s doing there, and I think they’ll be content to let him crack on and keep showing what he can do.”

Is Amorim in danger

United head coach Ruben Amorim is currently in hot water with fans for his treatment towards younger players. The likes of Amass, Toby Collyer and Chido Obi Martin have all been grouped, with the Portuguese manager arguing that their form at their current club examplifies why Amorim’s side struggled.

Fans heavily disagree with how Amorim has chosen to treat young talent since joining the club in November of last year, with Brown adding that the manager’s decision has ed for questions to rise at Man United regarding his press conference rantings.

United’s most recent fixture saw a 4-4 draw at home to Bournemouth; however, his squad’s performance was not what sparked conversation after he spoke to reporters.

Brown shared how, despite United making recent changes in their form, Amorim is still under immense pressure from higher-ups ups especially after dips in a few of their recent performances.
