Casemiro will be suspended as Manchester United return to the road as they travel to face Brentford in the Premier League this weekend.
Manchester United get this weekend’s Premier League action underway with a visit to Brentford in West London on Saturday afternoon.
Rúben Amorim’s side have managed two wins, two defeats and a draw in the league so far, leaving them 11th in the standings and prompting doubts over their ability to find rhythm.
The victories have come via a late Bruno Fernandes penalty against Burnley and last week’s win over Chelsea, which was heavily influenced by Robert Sánchez’s dismissal that left United in charge to score twice.
After that success against Enzo Maresca’s men, the Brentford clash presents Amorim with the chance to secure consecutive Premier League wins for the first time since taking over, potentially laying the foundations for greater consistency.
Dalot’s injury still unclear amid Martínez update
In the win against Chelsea, it was pleasing to see that both Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount had returned to duty after missing just one fixture, the tie against City, due to respective injuries.
However, there are two United players currently still out of action, with Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martínez spotted in the crowd to support their teammates.
While Martínez is expected to return to duties at either the end of October or the beginning of November, Dalot’s recovery is less clear.
Amorim has previously confirmed that the Portuguese international was out of action for the Manchester City and Chelsea ties, but did not give any extra insight into his return. However, it’s been relayed in the media that the injury is not too serious and that he could be back in action this weekend.
Casemiro suspension details confirmed
One player who is certainly out of action when United travel to West London is Casemiro, who was shown a red card just before half-time.
Red cards can carry bans of up to three matches or even longer, depending on the reason why they were brandished, but in the Brazilian’s case, he will only serve a one-game ban as the red was due to an accumulation of two yellow cards in one fixture.
Also, the nature of the red card resulting from two yellow cards has meant that United will be unable to appeal the suspension, as the Premier League does not accept appeals for sending offs from two yellow cards.
With Casemiro confirmed to miss the trip, this gives Amorim the perfect chance to finally hand Kobbie Mainoo his first Premier League start of the season, having only played in the competition as a substitute thus far.
