Manchester United icon describes Marcus Rashford rumours as “laughable”, it has happened “too many times”
Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United is up in the air and he could be available for selection against Rangers on Thursday.
Manchester United have been looking for potential loan exits for Marcus Rashford this month, with a permanent deal being seen as too difficult to pull off.
The 27-year-old forward admitted last month that he was open to a “new challenge” and rumours about his future have existed ever since.
AC Milan were the supposedly frontrunners for a deal but have opted to sign Kyle Walker from Manchester City instead.
Barcelona remain interested and they are the player’s preferred choice, and teams like Borussia Dortmund are also keeping track of the situation.
But the reality of the situation is that Rashford could also stay at Old Trafford for the rest of the season.
Rashford working hard behind-the-scenes at United
Despite not being involved in games since early December, the Academy graduate has still been training with the first-team and is likely to be in the squad this week against Rangers.
Recent reports have claimed that Rashford has been doing extra sessions behind-the-scenes to make up for the fact that he has not been playing matches.
Those outlets also claimed that Rashford has no problems with new boss Ruben Amorim and is 100 per cent prepared to fight for a place in the United team.
His efforts may have to start on Thursday, with the Reds struggling for goals over the last month in his absence and in need of a win in the Europa League.
Parker slams Rashford training reports
Former United defender and Premier League winner Paul Parker has hit out against those recent rumours about Rashford, claiming that it “has happened too many times” with the forward.
“It’s laughable, to be perfectly honest,” Parker told mybettingsites.co.uk when asked about the reports. “This has happened too many times.
“We hear stories about him doing extra training and working hard. It’s not about just working hard in training—it’s about giving everything on the pitch.
“He’s living off being a local boy and the season he had two years ago. The local boy has to remember he has to grab hold of this opportunity.
“What will he do if things don’t go his way? If he comes back into the team and starts working hard, it’ll make you question why he wasn’t doing it in the first place.”
