Manchester United have been hit with a possible injury problem amid their 2-1 Premier League win against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United earned another three Premier League points on Sunday, coming from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2–1 through goals from Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko.
Palace started sharply and took an early lead when Maxence Lacroix headed in from a corner. United’s problems deepened when Luke Shaw went off injured, with Noussair Mazraoui coming on at left-back.
The hosts improved before the break but could not equalise. After half-time, they were far more aggressive. Matheus Cunha was fouled by Lacroix, who was sent off, and Fernandes converted the penalty to make it 1–1.
With momentum on their side, United completed the comeback as Fernandes picked out Šeško, who finished well to continue his superb 2026 form and move the Reds up to third.
Maguire down the tunnel after Palace sub
During the game, Harry Maguire had a great presence at the back, dealing with Palace’s ever-changing front line, and also helping Leny Yoro when needed.
So, it was a bit of a surprise to see that the Englishman departed the game after 85 minutes, while United were looking to see out their precious lead.
According to BBC Sport, Maguire headed straight down the tunnel after being replaced in the second half by Ayden Heaven.
This is not the first time Maguire has suffered a possible problem this season, having missed two months of action with a hamstring injury prior to Carrick’s arrival and coming off early against West Ham a few weeks ago, too.
Martínez expected back soon, says Carrick
While a final confirmation of Maguire’s possible issue is still pending, the United boss also provided an update on the soon-coming return of fellow defender Lisandro Martínez.
The Argentina international has missed United’s last two games due to a minor calf strain sustained in training last week.
Speaking ahead of the game, Carrick told Sky Sports: “We will have to wait and see. He’s close, he’s not far away. It’s hard to say at the moment.”
Maguire and Martínez have been a brilliant pairing under Carrick so far, so the United boss will be hoping both players will be fit and ready to continue as soon as possible, with a tie against Newcastle pending on Wednesday evening.
