Manchester United fans have been excited at the prospect of Amad Diallo returning to the club ahead of next season.

Currently on loan at Sunderland, Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo has shone in the Championship this season.

He ended the season as Sunderland’s top scorer in the competition with 11 goals, helping them achieve a play-off place, where they will face Luton Town in the semi-finals.

Amad has operated mainly as an attacking midfielder and right-winger under Tony Mowbray, who has been singing the Ivorian’s praises all season.

A lot has been made of where Amad’s future lies under Erik ten Hag, with some saying he should go back on loan and others stating he should be given a spot in the first team.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Wolverhampton Wanderers tie, Ten Hag was asked where he sees Amad’s future.

When asked if he saw the player’s future at United, he replied: “Yes. Of course, we loan such players to make development and make progress to bring them back, that is the aim of the loan.

“So we are really strong with them, we mentor them, we follow them, we have communication over the season, especially Darren Fletcher invests a lot in such processes, the aim is to bring them back but as a better player with experience.”

Another academy winger who has enjoyed success this season, this time at Old Trafford, is young Argentine Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho sustained an ankle injury which ruled him out for over a month, however, he was on the bench for United’s last fixture, against West Ham United, but did not feature.

Ten Hag was asked about Garnacho’s current fitness and if he will be able to play a part on Saturday afternoon.

“He has one more week training, definitely,” was his reply.

“Yeah, so he is available and we have seen he can bring something extra in the team.”
