Manchester United have made their final decision on Marcus Rashford’s pre-season as his loan at Aston Villa comes to an end.
After struggling to get into Ruben Amorim’s side at Manchester United, Marcus Rashford sought a winter exit, which saw Unai Emery’s Aston Villa come calling to offer him a lifeline.
This loan was deemed a success, with the Villains seeing many flashes of the brilliance Rashford has been known to produce in recent years, both in the Premier League and the Champions League.
After registering four goals and six assists in 17 appearances, the 27-year-old’s loan came to an end due to injury, causing many to start speculating about his future.
TBR Football have now been able to reveal what United’s stance is on their player ahead of pre-season, and what they want to do with him.
United’s decision on Rashford explained
In United’s corner, they reportedly expect Rashford to return to Amorim’s squad for the club’s pre-season once his loan at Villa has come to an end.
However, they are not speculating on what this could look like in terms of being part of Amorim’s squad.
United’s stance on Rashford’s future seems very simple—they are pushing for him to make a permanent exit because they don’t want another loan move.
Nonetheless, This could prove difficult, as the Englishman’s wages would be an issue for any club. Rashford has previously stated that he isn’t willing to take a pay cut, which would rule many teams out of the running.
What does the future hold for Rashford?
From Rashford’s perspective, it is understood that his camp have informed Villa that he is open about his plans, and a Champions League finish isn’t a necessity for his signature.
It is also acknowledged that Rashford’s priority is to join Barcelona, with his camp contacting the Catalan giants to learn about their interest.
Although he is appreciated by president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, he is not one of their priority signings.
Despite Rashford’s successful loan move, his very steep wage demands and his £40 million valuation may go hand-in-hand to cause difficulty for any club craving his signature.
