Manchester United handed huge boost vs Liverpool as “key man” could miss out on Premier League clash

Liverpool could lose out on a “key man” following a change in international fixtures as Arne Slot prepares to face Manchester United.

Manchester United will travel to Liverpool later this month as the Reds look to carry form from the Sunderland game and secure a fourth win of the season.

This comes after the international break, in which many Reds will travel. Senne Lammens, Diogo Dalot, and Benjamin Sesko are just some of the names who have travelled.

Arne Slot’s side has been underwhelming recently, failing to secure a point in the last three games. Ruben Amorim will be looking to add to Liverpool’s poor run of form in a crucial derby game.

Slot has now been given another blow, as one star midfielder could miss the fixture due to his ties with his international side.

Mac Allister could miss United clash

Alexis Mac Alister is yet to record a full 90 minutes this season, as the Argentine has struggled with injury after a blow towards the end of last season.

Slot has been careful not to overwork the midfielder and has opted for the inform Ryan Gravenberch and Dominic Szoboszlai pairing instead.

Now the “key man’s” availability has taken another blow. Argentina’s fixture against Puerto Rico has been moved a day later, which disrupts the 26-year-old’s return to the Liverpool squad.

EmpireOfTheKop have reported that this is due to ‘organisational reasons’, and will allow time for the national teams to prepare in a commercial sense.

United must capitalise on Liverpool’s selection blow; the Reds must be prepared to take the battle to Liverpool.

Amoirm’s selection is key

In a huge matchup, United must bring the fight to Liverpool and use the weakened squad depth as an advantage.

Players like Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Ugarte, and Casemiro will be key in this sense. Liverpool is notorious for their eccentric and mobile midfielders, Gravenberch being an example.

Amorim will have to nail the squad selection, with Kobbie Mainoo a doubt for this matchup; the pressure is on the Portuguese manager to record a result on Sunday, 19th October.

The traveling fans will be eager to see their team return to the pitch and hope to defeat rivals Liverpool in a titanic clash.
