Manchester United receive four big boosts ahead of Community Shield vs Man City
Manchester United will face Manchester City in the Community Shield next weekend, and Erik ten Hag has received four big boosts.
The upcoming Community Shield clash at Wembley promises to be a thrilling encounter as United and Manchester City renew their fierce rivalry.
Fresh from their FA Cup triumph over City at the end of last season, United will be eager to repeat that result again under Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch manager has extended his contract at Old Trafford since winning against Pep Guardiola’s side in May. INEOS have made several changes behind the scenes, including a new-look coaching team surrounding the 54-year-old.
While the results during the 2024 pre-season tour have not looked great on the surface, there have been some positive aspects in the performances.
There have also been further boosts to the team as four more Reds have returned to Carrington for training.
Altay Bayindir, Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee returned from their post-Euro 2024 holidays last week.
Now, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martínez have also started their preparations at Carrington after well-needed breaks.
All of those players could be key for United going into next season and will likely get minutes in the Community Shield to prepare for the opening Premier League clash against Fulham.
It has been reported that those who travelled on the US tour will be taking a few days off before returning to training on Wednesday.
The clash at Wembley will kick off at 15:00 BST on Saturday afternoon.
