Manchester United fans will love what Harry Maguire told Thomas Tuchel before first England games

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has not been included in Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad for the March international break.
Harry Maguire has been injured in recent weeks after suffering an issue in Manchester United’s FA Cup defeat against Fulham.
Despite that, he was set for a return soon and may have been in contention for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s first-ever England squad. Instead, Newcastle’s Dan Burn got his first call-up.
In fact, there are no current United players in the England squad for only the second time since 1976. Marcus Rashford is involved but currently on loan at Aston Villa.
What Maguire told Tuchel before England games
Speaking ahead of the second-leg against Real Sociedad earlier this month, Amorim suggested that Maguire would be back for the Premier League clash against Leicester City.
“Harry Maguire cannot play this one but I hope to have him for Sunday,” he said before ending up going safe and leaving the centre-back out once again.
It seems likely that the defender will be available to face Nottingham Forest when football returns, especially as he will get an extra two weeks of preparation during the international break.
In fact, that appears to have been a conscious decision from Maguire, who reportedly decided against joining up with Tuchel’s side for the upcoming international fixtures.
Andy Mitten has claimed that the 32-year-old chose to not join the England squad as he wants to “focus on getting back for Manchester United”, which suggests that he had conversations with Tuchel about this.
Mitten said on the Talk of the Devils podcast: “Maguire chose not to go in the England team because he wanted to focus on getting back for Manchester United.”
The journalist was unable to guarantee whether Maguire would be fit to start against Forest at the beginning of next month, but that is likely to be the case going by Amorim’s comments.
United fans will love Maguire message
It is always a good feeling to see one of your players pull out of a pointless international camp so you do not have to worry about any extra injuries.
Maguire’s body did not let him down in his earlier years at Old Trafford, playing almost every game, but injuries have started to creep in.
He seems to be aware of that and wants to prioritise his club, which is something every United fan will applaud him for.

It is easy to forget that Maguire missed out on the England squad for Euro 2024 because he played through injury for United in the months leading up to the tournament.
The defender has looked improved under Amorim in the new system and clearly wants to return fully fit and firing after the international break.
