Manchester United and Ruben Amorim have identified their next priority in the midst of January transfer window chaos.

Ruben Amorim’s squad needs improvements and Manchester United are working on securing him signings in the January and summer transfer windows.

However, the Reds are not in a strong financial position and reports claim that sales are needed in order to bring players into the club.

Of course, it is well known that homegrown sales are often more beneficial financially as they are counted as ‘pure profit’ on the balance sheets.

This has led to reports about Kobbie Mainoo possibly being available for the right price, with Chelsea among the clubs interested in the 19-year-old.

United and Amorim prioritising Mainoo contract

However, according to a new report from GiveMeSport, Amorim wants to prioritise a new contract for Mainoo in the next month.

It was further explained that the key figures at Old Trafford are confident of finding a solution with the teenager after reports of contract negotiations stalling.

United are planning to turn down any approaches before the January transfer deadline, the report adds, with plans for the teenager to put pen-to-paper before the summer window to avoid further speculation about his future.

This follows confirmation that United have agreed a long-term deal with Amad, with the 22-year-old staying at Old Trafford until June 2030.

United fans will love Mainoo update

United fans will certainly feel relief when Mainoo signs new terms at Old Trafford. If he left the club it would be a real stain on INEOS’ tenure.

Bringing players through the Academy is part of United’s DNA and if a graduate leaves the club it should be because they are not good enough or want more game-time.

Mainoo is starting consistently and has all of the talent in the world, and his exit would simply be down to the poor spending at the club beforehand.

INEOS have to find other ways to solve those issues and reports claiming that Mainoo’s extension is a priority will be pleasing to hear for supporters.
