Manchester United fans sent transfer hint by highly-rated star, he’s already agreed a deal
Manchester United fans have been sent a transfer hint by a highly-rated star who has already agreed a deal to join the Old Trafford side.
Chido Obi-Martin was seen as the top academy prospect at the Gunners after scoring 32 goals for their Under-18s last season.
Despite this, he chose not to sign a scholarship deal with the London club and began considering other opportunities, including a visit to United’s Carrington training ground.
Several reports confirmed that he had agreed to join United in late July, with the chance of progressing to first-team football being a key reason for his decision.
Fabrizio Romano also mentioned that the young forward turned down more lucrative offers from Bundesliga clubs to join the Reds.
However, there has been little news about the 16-year-old since then, and no official announcement made by the player or the club.
AcademyScoop, the journalist who initially reported the story, has stated that the delay in an official announcement for Obi-Martin is not cause for concern.
He explained that, like talented winger Samuel Lusale, Obi-Martin’s transfer is going through the Premier League’s standard ratification process, which is typical for such deals.
Obi-Martin took to Instagram on Thursday evening to post a video of some individual shooting drills he has been doing.
Interestingly, the story was captioned with the ‘soon’ emoji, suggesting that those Premier League checks could be complete in the coming days.
The player is expected to join the Academy teams initially while also being afforded the chance to train with Erik ten Hag’s first team squad.
There will be a clear progression plan for Obi-Martin at Old Trafford, as there will be for the new 18-year-old midfielder Sékou Koné.
