Manchester United fans have reacted positively to a statement of intent about new Old Trafford CEO Omar Berrada.

Manchester United confirmed on Saturday evening that Omar Berrada, then Chief Football Officer of the City Football Group, would be joining Old Trafford as the new Chief Executive Officer of the club.

It was a move that shocked many has has been described as a major coup by insiders of the game, with Berrada being seen as a big reason for Manchester City’s successes in the last decade.

United’s decade, on the other hand, has been a lot less fruitful, with the club not challenging for a single Premier League or Champions League trophy in any of the seasons since 2013.

A lot of fans have put this down to a lack of overall quality at the club, albeit players or the manager, but a new report from Fabrizio Romano has got fans excited that a new era may be dawning on Old Trafford.

According to the report, it is said that Omar Berrada feels that players have to perform or leave the club within one or two years. Players staying at United for three or four years, despite poor performances, will be deemed as “unacceptable” by the new board.

This is no doubt a huge statement of intent, with Berrada likely keen to clear his new house of underperforming players in the coming transfer windows.

“This is the kind of mentality we need in the club. These players are too comfortable,” one fan said.

“All for this! It should be a given really but shows how much the operations and performance sides have been misaligned. Managers stuck with players that operations can’t get shot off,” another explained.

“This might be the best thing I have read about this club moving forward. Anthony Martial your time is up,” one fan concluded.
