Manchester United fan group provide update on next protest, Michael Carrick point made

Manchester United fan group ‘The 1958’ have made their decision regarding a planned protest ahead of the game against Fulham at Old Trafford on February 1.

Michael Carrick has experienced a dream start to life as the Manchester United interim manager, as he has managed to win both of his first two Premier League fixtures.

The Reds now sit fourth in the table following their fantastic victories against Arsenal and Manchester City, and now have the chance to capitalise on a favourable run of fixtures.

Despite an amazing couple of weeks since Ruben Amorim’s departure, it seems as if the United fan group ‘The 1958’ could still be set to go ahead with their planned protest.

The protest group, which has nearly 100,000 members, have announced plans for a demonstration before the game against Fulham at Old Trafford next Sunday.

Planned protest to go ahead

According to a report from the Daily Mail, The 1958 are still planning to go ahead with their protest, despite the current feel-good factor at the club following their recent success.

The protest group called for a vote of no confidence in United’s hierarchy earlier this month, as well as branding Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘an incompetent clown turning the club into a circus’.

A spokesperson of The 1958 said, “Recent results are down to Michael Carrick and the players and they have come in spite of our inept ownership, not because of it.

“This club continues to fumble from one calamity to the next. Fans should not be fooled by two good results. We have been here too many times before.”

The 1958 make bold statement

The 1958 continued their statement regarding their upcoming protest by saying, “Our protest has never been about performances on the pitch. Not now, and not once in the last 21 years.

“We are judging a dysfunctional ownership model that has repeatedly failed Manchester United.

“Jim Ratcliffe is a successful and wealthy businessman. But in a football sense, for many he comes across as a clueless clown, making one poor decision after another, with no cohesive plan.”

Clearly, the protest group aren’t buying into the recent success by Carrick and his players, but hopefully, their protest doesn’t influence the Reds on the pitch as they look to continue their fine form.
