Manchester United have been dealt four injury updates following their 2-2 Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United salvaged a 2–2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in a dramatic Premier League showdown on Saturday afternoon.
The match opened with a tight, evenly balanced first half-hour, United enjoying the greater share of the ball but without either side testing the goalkeeper. The breakthrough arrived when Bryan Mbeumo headed home from close range after a superb delivery from Amad, giving Rúben Amorim’s men the lead.
United carried that advantage into the interval, yet Spurs came out aggressively after the restart. Senne Lammens was forced into a string of quick-reaction saves, and Brennan Johnson briefly thought he’d equalised before his effort was ruled out for offside with around 30 minutes to play.
As both Amorim and Thomas Frank introduced fresh legs, the game grew increasingly open, and substitute Mathys Tel levelled the score for Tottenham with seven minutes remaining.
In stoppage time, Richarlison looked to have won it for Spurs, but Matthijs de Ligt’s towering header at the death ensured the points were shared in North London.
During the second half, all three of Harry Maguire, Casemiro, and Benjamin Šeško had to be taken off due to injury, with fresh updates on the trio forthcoming. At the same time, there has also been another update on Lisandro Martínez.
Harry Maguire
What happened: Around the 70th minute, it was clear that Harry Maguire was suffering from some form of hamstring problem, and in the 72nd minute, he was taken off and replaced by Leny Yoro.
What was said: Amorim said he “had” to take out Maguire, and it’s expected that further tests on the centre-back will be run in the coming days. Hamstring issues could mean at least a month of no action.
Expected return date: 4 December – West Ham (H)
Casemiro
What happened: At the same time as Harry Maguire coming off, Casemiro was also substituted and replaced by Manuel Ugarte.
What was said: Like Maguire, Amorim confirmed that Casemiro “had” to come off in the second half in the 72nd minute, with Brazilian journalist Fred Caldeira confirming it was due to a hard knock.
Expected return date: 24 November – Everton (H)
Benjamin Šeško
What happened: After coming on in the 58th minute to help sure up United’s 1-0 lead, Benjamin Šeško suffered a knee problem after a tackle from Spurs defender Micky van de Ven and was withdrawn with four minutes of regulation time still to play.
What was said: After Amorim admitted he was “concerned” about Šeško, a report from journalist Sam Cohen stated that he will undergo scans today to determine the extent of a potential knee injury, with initial thoughts suggesting it is not serious.
Expected return date: 24 November – Everton (H)
Lisandro Martínez
What happened: Lisandro Martínez suffered from an ACL injury in February last year and returned to first-team training late last month. However, he is yet to return to the matchday squad, with Amorim being super-cautious about the centre-back’s return.
What was said: According to Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul, Martínez is travelling with the Argentina national side to continue building his fitness levels.
Expected return date: 24 November – Everton (H)
