Manchester United could take step closer to giving Premier League star “dream” £40m move

With Manchester United facing Bournemouth, it’s rumoured that the club’s manager doesn’t just have his eyes on securing the three points, but is also eyeing a potential new signing.

With the January transfer window approaching, Manchester United are reportedly linked with several players in an effort to improve Ruben Amorim’s squad and bring the Reds back to their winning ways.

As United face Bournemouth this evening in a Premier League clash, the Portuguese coach will be analysing one of the Cherries’ midfielders in much closer light, with reports sharing United’s piqued interest in one of Bournemouth’s star players this season.

American international Tyler Adams has had an impressive season so far, and this has not gone unrecognised, with MailSport claiming that Amorim is keeping an eye on the player who scored one of the best goals in the Premier League this season.

In late November, the 26-year-old managed to put the goal in the net from nearly 50 yards out when facing Sunderland.

Whilst the United head coach likely hopes the same thing won’t happen when Adams takes on his side, the player will still feel pressure to perform, with a move to Old Trafford in the midfielder’s best interest.

Adams’ Premier League success

Adams is an incredibly gifted number 6, creating a name for himself within English football this season. He has made more interceptions than any Premier League midfielder this season besides Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, and ranks seventh in the total number of tackles made by any player, including defenders.

Alongside this, his strike against Sunderand has gone down in the history books, earning goal of the month in November.

When Adams was asked about the goal, he told reporters, “It was one of those blackout moments where you find yourself in a scenario, and you think ‘have a go’,” adding to his comment, the American said,  “I had the confidence to try it, and it ended up going in the back of the net.

“If you asked me to do that with no goalkeeper in the goal, I mean, maybe two out of 10 times you hit it that nicely.

“It was an exciting moment because adding a little bit more to your game is important. I have challenged myself a little bit to have more of an eye for that.

“I’m not going to say I’m capable of scoring from 47 yards week in week out, but I am capable of doing more on the offensive end, and I want to add that to my game a little bit more without taking away from what I do really well on the defensive side of the ball.

“Because I’ve scored a goal that, I’m not a player now going on the field and forgetting my responsibility and my role, do you know what I mean? Just because I scored a goal doesn’t mean I’m Justin Kluivert or Antoine [Semenyo]. It’s their job to do that.”

Is Adams a perfect fit for United?

Adams has spoken incredibly highly of United before the two teams’ upcoming fixture. He said that facing the team this evening will be a “special occasion”, expanding on his point, “This is what you grow up watching, whether you’re a fan or not. A fan of Manchester United walking into Old Trafford will change your perspective on everything.”

This puts United in a good position for potentially signing Adams either in the new year or the summer, with the player fit to fulfil many of Amorim’s matchday needs.

Amorim is looking for physical players to create a strong midfield that can cover ground while still helping players up front initiate play. Adams possesses skills that fit this rhetoric with his innate ability to win tackles and intercept pressing plays from the opposition, matching Amorim’s defensive needs almost perfectly.

Alongside this, Adams’ intelligence with the game will massively benefit the team, with Adams having shown he can deal with quick changes in play, recycling possession before giving it to more creative players within the squad.

Is the signing likley

Although Bournemouth have made remarkable progress this season, they go into tonight’s game with a six game winless run, with four of these games ending in defeats.

Whilst Adam appears seemingly calm about Bournemouth’s recent dip in the Premier League season, sharing with Men in Blazers Media Network that, ‘Literally every single game has been a game of margins; you have some VAR calls, some penalties we’ve given up, some calls that could have gone either way.

‘We find ourselves in a position where we went on an unbeaten run at the beginning of the season and now we’ve been on a winless run through the past six games. It feels deeper than it is, but we know we’re not playing to the level to be winless.”

As well as this, Adams is no stranger to relegation, being a part of the Leeds side that faced relegation in 2023, creating the question of whether he will want to move to Manchester, appearing secure in his position at his current club.
