Manchester United could repeat a trick they used to sign Leny Yoro in order to secure an ‘excellent’ wonderkid following meetings.

It was a surprise to everyone in football when Manchester United secured the signing of 18-year-old Leny Yoro in the summer over Real Madrid.

The French defender is one of the most highly-rated young centre-backs in Europe and United worked hard to convince him that Old Trafford was his future.

While the likes of Omar Berrada had important involvement in making the deal happen, the relationship with the player’s agent also would’ve played a part in the move.

The Reds signed two players under Jorge Mendes’ agency in the summer – Yoro and Manuel Ugarte – and have a long-standing relationship with him. They could be looking at another potential signing from the super agent.

It has been well reported that Ruben Amorim would like to be reunited with Sporting wonderkid Geovany Quenda next summer, and United chiefs are also keen on a deal for the youngster labelled as ‘excellent’ by football scouts.

Reports have explained that those at Old Trafford had been monitoring Quenda since before Amorim took charge at the club. His arrival would only boost a potential move.

However, they are not the only interested party in the talented wide-man, who has operated as a right wingback under Amorim at Sporting. Other top level Premier League and European clubs are keeping tabs on the 17-year-old.

United could very well have an advantage in that aspect due to the existing relationship they have with Mendes.

The Manchester Evening News has reported that Mendes has met with United chiefs to discuss the potential signing of Quenda.

Mendes’s Gestifute agency is negotiating on behalf of Quenda’s agent Igor Campedelli, the report adds. Mendes has bought half of Quenda’s image rights.

The report concluded that Mendes is scheduled to hold more meetings with clubs in the coming weeks to determine the most suitable move for the teenager, who seems certain to leave Sporting next year.

United will be hoping that their relationship with Mendes, matched with the fact that Quenda broke into Sporting’s first-team under Amorim, can convince the teenager of a move to Old Trafford.
