Manchester United considering signing “excellent” £25m star amid Bryan Mbeumo transfer delay

Manchester United are reportedly considering signing an “excellent” £25 million player amid continued delays surrounding forward target Bryan Mbeumo.

Manchester United are looking to improve across the pitch in the summer transfer window as Rúben Amorim aims to take charge of his first full season as head coach.

After finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing in the Europa League final last campaign, United are focused on strengthening their midfield and forward line in the coming months.

The club have already announced the arrival of Matheus Cunha for a £62.5 million fee, and are attempting to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, with talks having taken over a month.

United also want to add a new midfielder and centre-forward to their ranks this summer, with Ollie Watkins known to be on their list for the latter position.

What is going on with United’s Mbeumo interest?

The short story is that United and Brentford both have differing valuations of how much the 25-year-old should be signed for this summer.

United have submitted two bids totalling £55 million and then £62.5 million, including add-ons, in the last few weeks, but both have been rejected. There have been varying claims that Brentford want around £65-70 million for the Cameroon winger this summer.

Noise from within the club on Wednesday morning suggested that United had prepared their third bid for the player, although it is unclear whether it has been submitted. Sources have since told UtdDistrict that the bid is “imminent,” but provided little detail about the timeframe.

United had initially planned for Mbeumo to undergo his medical this week before joining his new squad in pre-season training, but this now looks increasingly unlikely as time ticks on.

United considering a move for Juventus’ Luiz

While negotiations for Mbeumo continue, an interesting development has taken place surrounding the club’s efforts to offload Jadon Sancho.

According to Corriere dello Sport, after Juventus offered United one of striker Dusan Vlahovic or midfielders Timothy Weah and Douglas Luiz as makeweight for Sancho, United are now considering the Luiz offer.

The report states that Sancho only has eyes for a move to Juventus this summer and is willing to take a pay cut in order to join the Turin club.

United need to offload the 25-year-old winger to lower their wage books, and Luiz may be a fantastic addition to Amorm’s side if they choose to engage in a £25 million swap deal that would see both players head in opposite directions for identical fees.

With Amorim seeking an athletic addition to his midfield this summer, preferably one with Premier League experience, Luiz may be the ideal fit after his five-year stint at Aston Villa demonstrated the Brazilian’s abilities can shine in England.
